We sat down with arguably the best scorer in the country, Dream Vision AAU’s Isaac Hamilton, at the 2012 Magic Memorial Festival in Garden Grove, CA. A scout’s take: Isaac Hamilton is one of the elite scorers in the class of 2013. He can score in a multitude of ways and is an incredibly versatile player offensively. He has range beyond the three-point line. He uses his quickness and handle to break guys down and get to the basket or pull up for a jumper. He also passes the ball well and is more than capable at the point guard position. Hamilton is a very willing rebounder as well. Q: What’s your official height? A: 6-5. Q: What position do you see yourself playing in college? A: I see myself playing point guard. I’ve been working hard on those skills. Q: Are you a Nike or an adidas guy? A: It doesn’t really matter to me. Q: Do you prefer the east coast or the west coast at this point? A: I don’t really have a preference. What matters most to me is the coach and the environment I’d be playing in. Q: How would you describe your game to someone who’s never seen your game before? A: Smooth. I’m a scorer. Also my court vision and point guard skills, always trying to make the right pass to find an open teammate. Q: What’s your strongest asset on the court? A: Scoring, especially being able to take a guy off the dribble. Q: What’s the most important thing to you in a college? A: Coaching. It’s important to me that I feel like I fit in. Q: Who are some of the schools that are recruiting you? A: UConn, Baylor, UNLV, USC, UCLA, California, San Diego State, Washington, Washington State, Arizona, and Louisville. Q: Would you consider attending an Ivy League school? A: Oh, definitely. Q: You’re attending St. John Bosco right now. Would a Catholic college be something that you’re looking for? A: Not really. It doesn’t really matter to me whether the school I go to is Catholic or not. Q: Who’s your favorite NBA player? A: Probably Kobe. I really like his ability to score. He’s a great player.
